Auditions & Employment

Lifeline Theatre is striving to build a diverse organization at all levels. We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants. All qualified candidates receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, protected veteran or disability status or any factor prohibited by law.

Lifeline is closely monitoring state and local public health guidelines and the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the health and safety of the production team, cast, staff, and audience members. As guidelines are evolving on a frequent basis, Lifeline will continue to adjust safety protocols as needed. Detailed safety guidelines will be communicated prior to the start of rehearsals.

ACTORS

Lifeline Theatre employs over 50 actors every season, between our MainStage and KidSeries programming. We typically hold general auditions in late winter/early spring, and show-specific auditions by invitation throughout the year. Announcements of general audition dates are made through the League of Chicago Theatrestheatreinchicago.com, and similar resources.

A note about the Lifeline Audition Monologue Bank (LAMB): Our entire season contains themes of subverting gender norms and re-envisioning characters beyond what may have originally been conceived as. PLEASE pick a monologue to perform based on your interest/excitement to perform it, regardless of the perceived gender identity of the character— it’s not only welcome, it’s encouraged! We have done our best to neutralize the pronouns of the characters in each monologue.

Outside of generals, you may send an email of interest with headshot/resume to Casting Director Andrés Enriquez at andres@lifelinetheatre.com at any time.

DESIGNERS/TECHNICIANS

Send an email of interest with resume to Artistic Director Ilesa Duncan (ilesa@lifelinetheatre.com) or mail information to Ilesa’s attention at the address here.

PLAYWRIGHTS/DIRECTORS

Lifeline does not accept unsolicited submissions by writers or directors, as almost all of our projects are developed by members of our artistic ensemble or by one of our frequent collaborators. The best way to interest Lifeline in your work as an adaptor or director is to invite us to see your work in production. Feel free to email Artistic Director Ilesa Duncan (ilesa@lifelinetheatre.com) with information on your upcoming projects.

EDUCATORS

Send an email of interest with resume to Education Director Merissa Stewart (merissa@lifelinetheatre.com).
