We believe that our Big Stories, Up Close should be accessible to everyone and offer the services listed below.

Patrons wishing to make reservations for any special performance or take advantage of any accessibility service may contact Accessibility Coordinator John Craig directly at 773-761-4477 x703 or access@lifelinetheatre.com. Our hours are Monday-Friday from 12pm to 6pm.


SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND OR HAVE LOW VISION

Audio description is a pre-recorded commentary on the visual elements of the performance by trained describers, including descriptions of the locations, costumes, and props, interspersed with the actors’ dialogue. Equipment Loaned by Cultural Access Collaborative with special thanks to the Chicago Academy of Sciences / Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

Audio Description is available for the following performances:

  • Cat’s Cradle: Sunday, October 1, 2023 (Tour: 1:00pm – Performance: 2:30pm)
  • Skunk & Badger: Sunday, March 24, 2024 (Tour: 9:30am – Performance: 11:00am)
  • Native Son: Sunday, June 9, 2024 (Tour: 1:00pm – Performance: 2:30pm)

SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE d/DEAF OR HARD-OF-HEARING

Captioning is a service for people with any level of hearing loss, featuring a text display of the words and sounds heard during a production.

Open Captioning is available for the following performances:

  • Cat’s Cradle: Sunday, September 24, 2023 @ 2:30pm AND Friday, October 6, 2023 @ 7:30pm
  • Skunk & Badger: Sunday, March 10, 2024 @ 11:00am AND 1:00pm
  • Native Son: Sunday, June 2, 2024 @ 2:30pm AND Friday, June 14, 2024@ 7:30pm

SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH SOCIAL AND/OR COGNITIVE DISABILITIES

Autism/sensory-friendly performances are relaxed and sensory-friendly theatre experiences designed to be more accessible to those individuals on the autism spectrum or to others with cognitive/developmental disabilities.

•  Wheelchair accessible seating and seats without stairs in our theatre
•  An accessible parking space in front of the theatre, available with advance request

The tallest step in our seating area is 91/2“. Our seats are 173/8” wide, 18″ deep, and 161/2” tall.
